COVID-19 TRAVEL: COUNTRIES OPENED FOR INTERNATIONAL TOURISM

Who does not love the good life? We all do, but with the Covid-19 virus, it felt like the world was at a standstill, and nobody could go on destination travel. With the coronavirus outbreak, tourism has been a no go area, and people are scared of travelling because everyone wanted to safe.

The good news is that since the outbreak of Covid, a lot has been done to curb its spread, and with that, some countries are either partially or fully opened for tourism.

If you are planning to go on vacations, you can visit any of these countries:

HAITI

Haiti is partially opened for tourism. If you plan to visit Haiti, there are some guidelines to follow:

Haiti announced that from February 9 2021, anyone coming in to visit must provide proof of a negative PCR or antigen test, taken no longer than 72 hours before arrival.

If you are recovering from covid, you are can use proof of recovery for entry. Two documents are needed: a previous positive test aged more than 14 days, plus a doctor’s certificate stating recovery.

THAILAND

This popular destination is set to reopen for travel in July 2021, but it is with restrictions. Only vaccinated tourist will be allowed into Thailand, and they will undergo a 7-day quarantine.

MALDIVES

This popular holiday destination is open for international tourists. Travellers will be required to show proof of a negative COVID-19 PCR test taken no more than 96 hours before departure.

They also added a new update on April 20, 2021, that fully vaccinated passengers can now skip the 96-hour PCR testing requirement. Instead of taking a test, vaccinated travellers will bring their vaccination certificate showing they have received their last (or single shot for J&J) at least 14 days before entering the Maldives.

CYPRUS

Cyprus is also opened for tourism but with some restrictions. It is opened to tourists from about 65 countries. You need a digital green passport or show a negative PCR result. Cyprus has also publicly stated they plan to allow vaccinated tourists to bypass testing requirements starting May 2021.

UNITED KINGDOM

London, United Kingdom

The United Kingdom has reopened for international tourism. Tourism travel has resumed in May 2021, and tourist has been divided into ‘Green, Amber and Red’ country categories. Nigeria is in the amber category.

Travellers from countries rated ‘amber’ must quarantine for ten days on arrival in the UK. Before you arrive, a negative Covid-19 PCR result must also be required (it must be from within the past 72 hours).

ICELAND

Iceland has its own requirements. They have implemented a double border-screening procedure that requires all passengers arriving in Iceland to undergo two PCR-testsone upon arrival and another 5-6 days later, while quarantining for those 5-6 days.

You can also show a certificate of recovery. Starting May 2021 Iceland will allow fully vaccinated passengers from approved nations to enter without testing.
