IMPORTANCE OF PHYSICAL HEALTH AND WELLNESS IN THE WORKPLACE

 

 

 

 

Physical activity is immensely important to the wellbeing of your staff and your organization as a whole.

Without proper fitness, your staff is prone to different illnesses ranging from cancer, obesity, diabetics, depression, fatigue, and high-stress level.

But, embracing physical activity will improve sleep, maintain a healthy weight, manage stress, and improve the quality of life of your staff

Loss of concentration at work can lead to lower productivity which translates to lesser money made.

Physical fitness needs to be embraced in the workplace with programs that promote it. It will foster good relationships, especially activities done together.

This will better the lives of your employees and make work easier for all.

Therefore, with no further ado, I will list out physical activities that can be incorporated into the daily life of the workplace.

 

 

EXERCISE

Exercise is shown to reduce stress, combat fatigue, improve performance.  Not only does exercise keep blood, glucose, and oxygen levels high, feeding the brain, but it also releases endorphins into the body which improves your mood. Provide space on-site for physical activity, a walking track around the facility, etc. Or, it could mean dedicating an available space to become a space for fitness and bringing in class instructors and/or equipment.

 

 

COMPETITION

Holding mini competition between employees is great to foster a relationship and get them productive towards work. competitions can range from soccer, thug of war, running, cycling, etc.

 

 

HOLD TRAINING ON PHYSICAL ACTIVITY

Bring in fitness expert, and allow employees to attend their presentations, so as to teach them how to use their best in the workplace, physical fitness-wise.

 

 

ENCOURAGE SHORT BREAKS

Encourage employees to take breaks from their workspace too. Even something as simple as offering a nice break room can encourage employees to get up and get away from their workspaces more often. Easy stretches can be done during this period.

 

 

IMPLEMENT AN EMPLOYEE WELLNESS PROGRAM

Employee wellness programs are to improve employees’ health and well-being, often through preventive care. The best worksite wellness programs keep the focus on the need to help employees adopt and maintain healthy behaviors.

With these few pointers, physical activity should become the number one priority at work.
