Managing Crisis

Staying safe & Managing Crisis

Although you cannot prevent all crises, you can prevent yourself from living in “crisis mode.” To decrease the likelihood of living in crisis mode, follow these guidelines:

  1. Deal with small problems as they arise
  2. Plan ahead for how you will handle crises. Although It can be very difficult to cope effectively with a sudden crisis, Creating a crisis management plan and having a crisis intervention plan when a crisis ensues can prevent a full-blown crisis situation from developing.
  1. Create a safety plan together with your relative. Decide and agree upon what to do in a crisis and emergency situation. This allows everyone to be involved and prepared if anything does happen.
  2. One type of crisis involves a threat to you or your family’s safety. You may be concerned about emotional, physical, sexual, or financial safety and security. Ensure you create a workable plan around all these elements
