UK Travel Updates

Latest UK travel updates: The UK eases travel rules for minors and approves new vaccines

Are you planning to travel abroad? If you are travelling for business or pleasure, staying up-to-date on COVID-19 travel rules is essential, considering the COVID-19 pandemic.

The UK and US governments recently implemented new travel guidelines for unvaccinated and fully vaccinated international travellers. However, as COVID-19 realities continue to develop, policies, especially travel guidelines, will also shift alongside.

It is no surprise that the British government has updated its travel guidelines, which will go into effect on Monday, November 22, 2021.

The newly published guideline recognizes COVID-19 vaccine brands such as Pfizer BioNTech, Oxford AstraZeneca (including Covishield), Moderna, Janssen (Johnson and Johnson), as well as vaccines on the WHO’s Emergency Use List (WHO EUL) such as Sinovac, Sinopharm Beijing, and Covaxin used by inbound travellers at the UK border.

So, if you have received any of these listed vaccines in your country of residence, you will have inbound access to the United Kingdom, provided that you can present your proof of vaccination.

Vaccinated passengers no longer need to take a pre-departure test or self-isolate upon arrival after receiving a vaccination certificate. Instead, passengers will only have to pay for a lateral flow test done before the end of their second post-arrival.

Under-18s (minors) arriving in England after the stated date are treated as vaccinated and will be subject to all COVID-19 travel regulations that apply to vaccinated individuals.

Travel rules frequently change depending on where you are travelling from, so it’s always wise to check ahead of time.

  • The UK government will recognize vaccines on the World Health Organization’s Emergency Use List (WHO EUL) at the UK border. The Sinovac, Sinopharm Beijing, and Covaxin vaccines are now on the list of vaccines that the UK recommends international travellers can take before travelling to the UK.
  • These UK travel updates will benefit lots of people, especially vaccinated people from several countries. However, don’t go hopping on a plane just yet, as these rules are coming into full force next week.

As the UK government keeps health measures under review, act right away if you perceive any health risk to you.
